oh jared!

A couple of weeks ago, labmates Jap and Ada started to conduct a series of trial runs of their thesis project at UP Integrated School.  They have this educational game called KineSpell, a SunSPOT application software, which they developed for their undergrad thesis.  Having been a regular fan of this game (I can hear the theme song play in my head quite clearly) and still havent gone to IS, I decided to tag along and meet this wonderful kids who are all in Grade Two.

Well, that decision proved to be something I won't forget.  I was able to meet these students who were so brilliant you'd want to be like them when you were younger (or maybe have children cloned out of them, hehehe).  Anyway, one kid named Jared is quite exceptional.  I don't know but what made him stand-out was when he remarked, "Pwede pa install din ng Netbeans sa mga PC namin?"  I just dismissed it at first as something that maybe a kid would say just to play a PC game.

This morning, Ada brought in the lab their survey forms for the test evaluation from these students and whoa, I cannot believe what little Jared wrote:

"Kinespell should be launched immediately after the most necessary software tweaks for aiming at the consumer market for fun, easy learning and software use. Also, as a polite request to the Sun Company, I request that Sun SPOTs should be included with Kinespell during purchase in order for the consumer to pay less than normal." - Aurel Jared Dantis, 8 years old, Grade 2 student from UPIS

I asked Ada if she had asked them to bring the questionnaire home.  She said she made them answer in front of them. Wow!

(thanks Ada for the multiply site.  Pahiram na rin ng picture ha...)
